MSV Trackdays & MSV Team Trophy at Brands Hatch

Paddock42 recently met with Nick Rice from MSV Track Days at the MSA Go Motorsport Event at Silverstone and we have news from the team as they get ready for a busy weekend at Brands.

A landmark weekend is in store for the MSV Trackday Trophy and MSV Team Trophy at Brands Hatch this weekend (27/28 July). Both series will feature a capacity 44 saloon and sports cars on the Grand Prix circuit, with a total of 144 drivers. Since the inception of the Trackday Trophy in 2010, a remarkable 337 total newcomers to motor racing have become MSA race licence holders and used the series as their first step into the sport.

The MSV Trackday Trophy was launched in 2010 as a ‘first step’ series for trackday drivers entering the world of competitive racing. Each event consists of 30 minutes’ practice/qualifying followed by a 45 minute race, and both sessions take place on one day to reduce overnight costs. The entry fee is just £350 per event and races are designed for teams of two drivers so that the costs of running the car can be shared. Teams must contain at least one novice driver who has competed in less than six races before, and regulations are kept deliberately relaxed in order to welcome as many types of vehicle as possible.

The MSV Team Trophy was created one year later as a graduate series for those drivers ready for the next level. The regulations are very similar to Trackday Trophy to minimise the cost of participation, but with a longer 60 minute race and a mandatory pit stop.

Nick Rice, who is the coordinator of both series, said: “We’re really happy with the entry numbers for the Grand Prix circuit this weekend, and that so many of the drivers that we’ve introduced through our trackdays are now battling it out on one of the greatest circuits in the world.

“At MSV we recognise how important it is to feed new people into motor racing, and it’s a natural step for those that already partake in trackdays. We can offer everything from driver training to their ARDS licence test all the way through to their first event. Many of our competitors have gone on to race in other club-level series so the whole sport benefits.”

Paddock42 wish the MSVT Team and all the competitors the very best for what we are sure will be a truly cracking weekend.
