Sykes on Pole…WSBK Donington Park

Paddock42 got very cold and wet yesterday at Donington Park but todays another day and Tom Sykes’s has secured his 15th career pole position after dominating qualifying on the Kawasaki.

When it was time for Superpole, Sykes smashed his own lap record on three occasions to end the session with a lap of 1min 27.378secs – four tenths quicker than Aprilia rider and championship leader Sylvain Guintoli. Eugene Laverty finished quali in third being seven tenths off of the Kawasaki.

Jonathan Rea’s (Pata Honda) came in fourth with Leon Camier (Fixi Crescent Suzuki) in fifth place. Great to see three British riders inside the top five!

Number 33, Marco Melandri starts in sixth with the superstar Welshman Chaz Davies in seventh.

The injured local hero, Leon Haslam nearly made it through to SP2 finishing 13th on the grid.
