Don’t Mess With A Dirt Tracker… Indianapolis MotoGP

Indianapolis MotoGP was an outstanding race and it was great to see Cal up there again proving that he is the satalite rider to beat and the battle between Cal, Bautista and Rossi at the end was great viewing.Ace ride by Bradley Smith who qualified well and nipped past both Ducati’s right on the line to take 8th place.

Clash of the ‘meet’  was the Hayden, Dovi get together at the last corner. Nicky made a move on his team mate, which produced contact, pushing them both wide and hopping over the curb. The Kentucky Kid looks cool as ice as he sorts it all out just before getting it over the line, this has to be photo of the weekend. There is history between riders in ‘team red’ with contact in Laguna Seca in which Dovi saw the advantage. Pay back? Nicky says no and frankly he is a racer through and through so he will push hard no matter who. There was a chat with race direction but all in all it was just a racing incident.

Indy was Hayden’s last race on US soil as a Factory Ducati rider although nothing is signed there are noises in the paddock of privateer Honda packages and still links to WSBK. If there was a WSBK team that could offer a serious package, the opportunity to have a crack at winning the WSBK title and become the only man to ever win a world title in both series must be massively appealing. We all have seen how strong ex-GP riders are in WSBK…Nicky says its 50-50 stay or go.

All that we have not mentioned Marquez. The rookie bangs it on pole then takes the lead  from Jorge after a few hard fought laps and in his pursuit to the front puts the odd wheel on the grass and I have heard that they were pulling grass from the edge of his elbow sliders. I have not seen a rider so ‘unfazed’ by big scary moments its as if they are just not important. A great ride and win again by the ‘Rookie’ who is re-writing the record books and is still top of the table.

So the final scores on the doors:
