GINETTA G55 GT4 Announced for 2014

Building upon their already established foothold in GT racing, Ginetta are thrilled to announce for 2014, the SRO homologated GT4 Ginetta will be a G55.

The G55 was introduced into the motorsport arena in 2011 to compete in the highly successful Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup. Over the three years since its inception, Ginetta have manufactured over 30 G55 Cup cars, delivered to customers all over the world.

The natural progression for this car was to become a multi-platform GT racing car, eligible for both world GT4 competition and the in-house Ginetta championships. This provides both drivers and teams alike with an asset which can be used for competition most weekends of the year.

Committed to making GT racing both accessible and affordable, this move offers great value for investors in the G55 car whilst protecting its retail price of £78,000.

The 2014 Ginetta G55 GT4 car will use the in-house Ginetta developed 3.7 Ford V6 engine, producing 355bhp. The drivetrain starts with the Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox with optional Ginetta factory-developed pneumatic paddle-shift system.

Commenting on the G55 GT4 car, Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson added; “The G55 is the latest car developed by Ginetta for both Cup and now GT4 competition. The car is great value and offers world-beating performance combined with first-rate safety specification.”

Factory Driver and Head Of Sales Mike Simpson said; “We are very excited to offer the G55 as a GT4 car from 2014, it looks stunning and will be every bit as quick as its predecessor, the Ginetta G50 GT4. I think Ginetta will have a very busy winter build schedule!”

Already a pioneer in GT racing, the Ginetta G50 GT4 car is undoubtedly one of the most successful GT4 cars ever produced and is Ginetta’s most popular model. Since it’s homologation in 2008, the car has won the British GT Championship four times in five years, as well as claimed class victory in the famous Dubai 24 Hours in 2012 and a number of other European titles.

Whilst the G55 GT4 will be Ginetta’s most up-to-date GT car, the 2011, 2012 and 2013 specification G50 GT4 cars will still be eligible to compete in the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup for 2014, and will remain just as competitive within the GT4 arena, as organising body SRO balance all models, to ensure fair racing.

Many thanks to Ginetta for the news and Paddock42 looks forward to seeing these on track next season.
