Title Decider Beckons ELMS Teams At Le Castellet

Reigning champions Thiriet by TDS Racing lead the charge, with Pierre Thiriet and Mathias Beche looking to repeat their 2012 win at the track to retain the title. Their main challenge for the 2013 title and main rivals, Signatech Alpine who are currently on equal points. Jota Sport are in 3rd position but with 25 points for a win and an 18 point gap to the pair ahead, the team would need misfortune for both of the top two to be victorious but as we all know in racing anything can happen.

Built in 1970 by the aniseed drink tycoon, the Paul Ricard circuit hosted 14 Formula 1 Grands Prix, 22 Bols d’Or and 12 World Championship Moto Grands Prix. Totally renovated by Philippe Gurdjian at the start of the 2000’s, the circuit has become a point of reference for motor sport safety, notably thanks to the asphalt run-off areas instead of gravel traps. It remains closed to the public and for 9 years was reserved for teams and manufacturers’ development testing. Under the leadership of Gérard Neveu, then Director of the circuit, Paul Ricard reopened its doors to the public in 2009.
