10TH ANNIVERSARY of the ROCKINGHAM STAGES RALLY

Its a decade of rallying at Rockingham next month as The Rockingham Stages Rally returns to the Northamptonshire track over the weekend of the 7th & 8th December.

Its an all tarmac event and over 80 crews have entered with 2012 champion Paul King defending the crown he won with Alicia Miles 2012. This time out King has a new co-driver, Fiona Scarrett in the Ford RS. No doubt there will be a fierce challenges from the other crews many of which have other titles under their belts and will want to add this event to their list of accolades. This includes former British and World Rally Champion Martin Rowe, who will be out in a/the legendary Ford Escort MKII BDA.

2012 Class 3 winners, Andy Corner and Ade Camp will be back out and flat out in their Peugeot 205 GTi along with Andy Rowe and Cat Lund (Rockingham’s Head of Op’s) in their Mitsubishi Evo 2 who will be wanting to improve on their third place finish last year.

The event is organised jointly by Middlesex County Automobile Club and Thame Motorsport Club and with the space available at Rockingham, the clubs will be setting out a challenging course using the access roads, tunnels, pit lanes, the paddock area and a combination of the in-field circuit and the banked oval. Over 2 days the event will offer 97 miles of driving with six stages on the Saturday, including two night stages run in the dark and a further six stages over 47 miles on the Sunday. Also a Junior Stages rally will be held over five stages on Saturday.

The action starts at midday on Saturday and at 9am on Sunday and its only tenner on the gate or £15 for both days and free for all those under 16. The facilities are great with grandstand seating, great viewing and also the Welcome Centre will be open for hot food and drink all day and hosting a get together on Saturday evening.
