Saloon and Modsport to race at Mallory

News from CSCC (Classic Sports Car Club) that they will be staging a race meeting at the legendary Mallory Park Circuit on Sunday 20th July 2014.

The new owners of Mallory Park, Real Motorsport, have been working with the Classic Sports Car Club and this date is firmly in the diary. It is great to hear that Real Motorsport are working hard to keep Mallory operational even though we all know of the pressures that locals/ local council have put the circuit under in recent years – doing their best to try and get the track closed permanently.

The reason this whole meeting came about was due to a large gap between the Special Saloon and Modsport races at Brands Hatch on 31st May and Donington on 30th/31st August. The team at CSCC thought this will be an ideal opportunity to arrange another race at the spiritual home of the Special Saloons and Modsports Series and at this stage the club believes this may be the only planned car race meeting at Mallory in 2014.

As we all know this is bound to be a popular event, and we are sure that all of us feel real sadness that this circuit wont be on the race calendars this season. The meeting will also have racing from the new CSCC series, The Dunlop Production Cup for Porsche and the club will also be putting on a sports vs saloon race which will be an opportunity for racers in all our other series to get some tracktime.

The Saloons and Modsport races will comprise a 15 minute qualifying session and two 15 minute races and if you have a racer that will qualify to enter, dust her off, juice her up and sign her up for only £275.

At the weekend thousands of motorsport fans turned out for Mallory Parks reopening on Saturday which just highlights the fantastic support offered by British motorsport fans – well done CSCC and Real Motorsport – keep up the good work.
