Super One to cancel 2014 KFJ and Comer Cadet MSA Championships

It is with great regret that the Super One Series promoters have announced that there have not been sufficient entries in this years KFJ MSA Junior British Kart Championship for it to proceed as planned. The promoters, in conjunction with the MSA, have done their utmost to reduce the costs of racing by offering a pooled engine supply for a level playing field, yet this has not resulted in enough entries.

Promoter John Hoyle said: “We realise that this will be a great disappointment to the competitors who have supported the class, and apologise for the late announcement. We waited until the very last moment to make a decision in the hope the class could be sustained. Of course any payments made to the Super One will be refunded to those competitors, or alternatively we will facilitate a transfer to another class.”

Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive, said: “Unfortunately this reflects a general worldwide decline in participation within the KF Classes. The MSA is in dialogue with the CIK regarding the future of CIK homologated engines with new proposals due to be homologated for 2016. Once the MSA has further details we will ensure to keep everyone informed.”

Owing to the number of competitors transferring from the Comer Cadet Class to alternate Cadet Classes, such as MSA IAME Cadet, there will not be an MSA National Comer Cadet Kart Championship in 2014.

The MSA British Kart Championship commences this weekend at Shenington near Banbury, with a healthy entry for the 90mph KZ gearbox karts alongside the MSA British Cadet Championship for 9 to 13 year olds. Spectator entry is £5 per car, racing commences on Saturday afternoon and then all day Sunday.
