Bean Takes control – Junior Rallycross

Paddock42 Junior Rallycross driver Charlie Bean proved he was the man to beat this season as he showed the opposition his intentions for the 2014 championship.

At an unusually sunny Lydden Hill, Charlie Bean set the pace by winning all three heats and then went on to win the final. During the final, Charlie managed to pull out an 8 second lead but this was dramatically reduced due to bit of contact leaving the joker (a joker lap is an extra section of track which drivers have to do once during every race) to only three tenths as he went over the finish line to take the chequered flag.

Charlie said: “We worked so hard to get the budget to go to Lydden but thankfully we managed it. Over the winter we worked flat out preparing the car and also got the car painted  – massive thank you to Malis Designs.”

“The track was being watered before a few of the races but I coped well but there was contact between me and Jake Taylor coming off the joker. I had a really bad feeling that I was going to get turned around but we kept it clean and I just tried to build a lead. Going into the weekend I was confident, but when I saw how quick Drew and Jake were I got so nervous on the dummy grid for the final but I kept it cool and got the job done. I can’t thank Liberty Cleaning Services enough for paying my registration fee and Kevin Franks and Grandad for setting up the car and putting up with my pre-race nerves bad moods! I would like to thank the one man who always makes it happen, Dad.  I’ve never seen him so happy and proud all weekend and I wouldn’t be here without him. ”

After this result this means the young Ripon driver leads the championship as the drivers head to Valkenswaard Holland.
