Dunlop Production Cup for Porsche Snetterton

The inaugural round of the Dunlop Production Cup for Porsche took place at Snetterton on the 13th of April, and produced an exciting debut race for the Classic Sports Car Club.

As the pack of cars began their first lap, a moment from JM Littman in his Boxster S dropped him to the back of the field, way down from his qualifying position of 3rd place. Pole sitter Peter Morris in his 996 C2 lost out to the fast starting 993 RS of Dave Whelan, with Will Sharpe close behind in sec- ond. As Littman began his charge back up through the field to an even- tual 3rd overall, Morris snuck past Will Sharpe and began an epic 10 minute battle for the lead with Whelan. Morris came out on top with 3 laps to go and Whelan held off Littman despite a last corner dive for the place.

In class 2 Andy Toon in his 968 CS took the lead off the start and was able to press home his advan- tage to take a class win from David Grover in second. In class 3, Gary Jones in his 944 S2 took a win in his debut race, after the 924S of Andy Yeomans suffered a stuck throttle early on.

Race 2 ran with the CSCC Modern Classics, giving double the track time to competitors an the overall winner was again Peter Morris, with Andy Toon in second place.

The Dunlop Production Cup for Porsche goes to Silverstone in 3 weeks time, and the CSCC team look forward to welcoming those competitors whose cars were not ready for the first round along with new competitors who have registered since Snetterton.
