Donington Historic Festival – Denis Welch Motorsport

Denis Welch Motorsport news from the paddock following the The Donington Historic Festival…

With sunny weather throughout the weekend the 2014 Donington Historic Festival was very successful for all four Healey’s looked after by the Denis Welch Motorsport Team with 4 cars and 4 great results!

A combined grid of 30 1950’s sports cars drove a single sixty minute race on Sunday. The three Austin-Healey’s of Karsten Le Blanc, Martyn Corfield and Nils-Fredrik Nyblaeus enjoyed the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy battle. Karsten Le Blanc in his freshly acquired Austin-Healey 100S finished the race in an amazing sixth position overall. Jeremy Welch starting in the Healey Endurance car, made a good start and battled his way up during the 1st part to pass over to Martyn Corfield who, after a good honest drive finished in ninth place for the team. Nils-Fredrik Nyblaeus in his Healey 100M finished fifteenth, completing 38 laps.

The Festival ended in high spirits, with the 90-minute Masters Gentlemen Drivers pre-66 GT race. It was enjoyable for both, spectators to watch and participants to compete in. With nearly 34 classic GT’s battling against one another team Nyblaeus/Welch in the Austin-Healey 3000 finished eleventh overall and the first Healey home. Nils-Fredrik Nyblaeus who’s driving has come on leaps and bounds started the race in good style, then co-driver, Jeremy Welch took over to enjoy a hard, even fort, but exciting battle against the Bristol Healey of Clarkson/Smithies.
