MOTORSPORT VISION RACING goes to Rockingham

NEW for this season, MotorSport Vision Racing brings its Club Championship to Rockingham this weekend (May 24/25), marking the first ever visit to the Northamptonshire Circuit for the race series.

Providing two days of fantastic club racing, the MSVR race meeting features 19 races from nine different championships offering a mix of cars from hatchbacks and saloons to sports car and single seaters.

Now firmly established as possibly the best value ‘tin top’ race event in the UK, the Dunlop Mk2 Golf GTI Championship was started by four long time VW enthusiasts who wanted somewhere to race their mildly modified track day cars.

In the opening round of the championship, Jamie Martin won both 16V Class races while Adrian Ward and Andrew Aldridge shared the spoils in the 8V Class however it might not be as easy at Rockingham with a number of drivers capable of taking the podium.

Spectators can expect capacity grids from the Toyo Tires Racing Saloons series, which has established itself as one of the market leaders in its field. Delivering close competition within classes, it is joined on the racing bill by its sister series, the Production BMW Championship.

The F3 Cup provides the single-seater action with Lee Morgan making his first appearance of 2014. He will be hoping to draw on his previous racing experience of Rockingham, which saw him collect a victory in last season’s Formula Jedi Championship.

Toby Sowery remains the one to beat though, he has won every race so far this season, albeit all from pole. He currently leads the standings by 31-points however Tristan Cliffe will be looking to close the gap with two good performances himself.

All the action takes place on the 1.94-mile International Super Sportscar Circuit with two races apiece from all the series including the Atom Cup, Lotus Cup UK, Monoposto, Dunlop VAG Trophy and Lotus Elise Trophy.
