MX-5 SuperCup Travels to Anglesey

With half the season now complete, the MX-5 SuperCup heads to the picturesque seaside circuit of Anglesey this weekend for the second of two triple-header rounds in 2014.

Championship leader Mike Comber extended his lead last time out at Snetterton, now heading the table by 11 points ahead of David Chapman. But with Chapman withdrawing from the championship due to financial constraints, Comber’s main competition this weekend will come from Tom Roche – double-winner at Snetterton – and Paul Sheard, who took a clean sweep of the Anglesey round in 2013.

Also looking to challenge for podium finishes will be Matt Davies, runner-up in all three races in 2013, Abbie Eaton who scored her best finish of the year at Snetterton, and the impressive rookie Liam Murphy who has been threatening to break into the top-3 all year.

For the first time, the SuperCup will be racing on the shorter Coastal circuit variant, which features the steep Corkscrew corner at the end of the lap and gives drivers little time to relax during the three 20-minute races. The action gets underway early on Saturday morning, starting with practice and qualifying before the first race on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday 9 August: Practice 10:00am, Qualifying 1:00pm, Race 1 5:05pm.
Sunday 10 August: Race 2 11:45am, Race 3 3:50pm.
