MSVR Winter Series Snetterton

Caroline dominates Ginetta encounters…Snetterton ran a 12 race programme for their final meeting of the season. Formula 4, Ginetta Juniors and Allcomers had four races apiece. Jamie Caroline was the star of an incident-filled weekend in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series, claiming all four races to take the title.

The opening Ginetta Junior Winter Series race was marred with stoppages, both in qualifying and the race. A four lap sprint pursued, in which Caroline got the better of Dan Zelos and Senna Proctor in a three-way battle to take the victory. Matt Chapman snatched fourth away from Patrik Matthiessen on the final lap.

Jonathan Hadfield, who crashed out of race one, made amends for his morning disappointment in race two as he blasted up to fourth on the opening lap from 16th on the grid. However, Zelos and Chapman didn’t get away as well as they had a coming together at Riches, allowing Caroline to romp away to victory. Proctor beat Matthiessen in a good battle for second. Hadfield stayed ahead of Geri Nicosia and Billy Monger, who completed the top six.

Caroline was dominant in a three lap sprint on Sunday morning after red flags flew when Connor Grady and Ben Wallace collided, causing a restart. Zelos took second, ahead of Proctor and Nicosia. Alex Day acquired fifth on the final lap when both Hadfield and Harry Mailer spun at Coram.

HHC Motorsport driver Caroline took four wins out of four in the final race and took the Ginetta Junior Winter Series championship. He beat Zelos by five seconds. Fiesta champion, Nicosia grabbed third on lap three to take his maiden Ginetta podium with Hadfield and Lewis Brown behind him.

Drama struck pole man, Gaetano di Mauro in the opening round of the BRDC Formula 4 Winter Series as he jumped the start and was handed a ten second penalty. Despite not needing to take the lead on circuit, Will Palmer battled with di Mauro. The pace of the pair saw di Mauro take second in the classification behind Palmer. Rodrigo Fonesca was the best of the rest in third, after starting fifth. He beat Connor Jupp and Harrison Newey, who moved ahead of Jordan Albert due to a track limit penalty. Palmer was the dominant winner on Saturday afternoon, beating di Mauro by four seconds. Albert passed Jupp for third on the penultimate lap.

Sunday’s Formula 4 action saw a win apiece for Palmer and Di Mauro. Palmer took a dominant 15 second victory in the morning in the only wet tyre race of the weekend. Di Mauro came second ahead of Fonesca after Albert ploughed into the tyre wall at Oggies. Di Mauro took his second career F4 victory in tricky conditions in the afternoon. Palmer still took second ahead of Albert and Jupp.

Saturdays Allcomers races were both won by Salih Yoluc (Ginetta G55). He had to move up from as low as fifth in race one in an impressive 34 car field. Ben Schrivens (Ginetta G50) and Anthony Bennett (Caterham R300) were the victors on Sunday. Bennett was involved in a good dice with Richard Green (Caterham), pulling away on the final lap. Andy Thompson was a star in his Seat Leon taking fourth in the third race.
