BRSCC New Mk5 Production GTI’S RUN Toyo

Toyo Tires has confirmed that it will be the control tyre supplier for the new Mk5 BRSCC Production GTI Championship in 2015 with the Proxes R888.

Following several successful seasons supporting the Mk2 production GTI championship, which will continue as its own grid this year. The championships aim is to keep the costs down and have a tightly governed set of regulations that ensure that to be successful it is al about set-up and driving skill. Toyo will be supplying the Proxes R888 in 224/45/17, the 17 inch rim being the control size.

The championship will allow both 3 and 5 door Mk5 GTI with racers able to choose between the more traditional charms of the manual or the DSG box. Only BWA or AXX Engine coded cars will be allowed and all blocks/ internals have to be completely standard, including the factory fitted K03 turbocharger. Free reign is granted on exhaust systems, braking and suspension systems – limited to being no more than 2 way adjustable.

Software choice will also be free, but boost and power levels will be capped to ensure that no one car or team has an unfair advantage – current built cars so far have achieved circa 250bhp.

The championship will be showcased at on the BRSCC stand at Autosport Show this weekend (8th-11th January).
