Time Attack goes Retro…

The Time Attack Championship celebrates 10 years this year and for 2015 they are launching an all new championship and already the response has been overwhelming…introducing Classic & Retro Time Attack.

As we have reported on Paddock42 the resurgence of historic motorsport has been strong over the last few years and with this new championship from Time Attack, drivers can now compete in their classic and historic competition cars in a competitive but non contact form of motorsport. This new series is open to cars that are more than 25 years old and will be contested over six rounds at some of the UK’s most loved tracks including Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire’s answer to the Nordschleife.

The Time Attack team tell us that two categories will be run this season, ‘Club’ for cars built to Sprint and Hillclimb specifications and ‘Pro’ for cars built to race specifications and these categories will be split again based on potential lap times rather than pure technical specifications. The format of the meetings consists of four 15 to 20 minute sessions, with warm up, practice, qualifying and the final which gives drivers at least 1 hour on track during the day. The other point to note is because the championship does not involve racing, Time Attack classes run under the MSA ‘Speed’ permit, cars only need to comply with the regulations for Sprint and Hillclimb cars and drivers may hold a non-race rather than full race license.

So calling all owners of classic saloons and sports cars its time to put it through its paces and smell the Castrol R.
