Freddie Hunt joins BKR Racing for the Clio Cup

Team BKR have announced today that Freddie Hunt, son of the 1976 F1 World Champion, will be contesting the 2015 Renault Clio Cup Championship in the Spectra Analysis sponsored Renault Clio.

Freddie tested with the team at Brands last month, immediately getting comfortable and managing 150 laps in the BKR Clio. Mike Bushell  (2014 Clio Cup Champion) is currently working with BKR assisting and guiding the team and Freddie to ensure they get best out of the 2014 championship winning car.

It will be a busy year for Hunt as he competes in both the Clio Cup and the new Formula E Championship but this will mean that due to the Formula E commitments, rounds at Thruxton, Oulton Park and Croft will unfortunately have to be missed. However, BKR are in discussion with other drivers for these meetings but would welcome interest from persons looking to compete in these rounds of the championship. The team is aiming to field a 2nd car in the near future so there is the opportunity for that second driver to continue to work and drive with the team at other rounds at a later date.

BKR Team Manager Nico Ferrari said “I’ve been talking to Freddie and his management team since the end of last year, both parties were keen from the start but as always there were plenty of hurdles we had to jump to get to this stage”.

“I’m really pleased to confirm a drive with Team BKR and I’m looking forward to working and racing with Nico and the team this year – Freddie Hunt”

Will Fewkes who is the Renault UK Clio Cup Championship Manager commented ” I’m delighted to welcome Freddie to the Renault UK Clio Cup, the championship is really starting to build momentum ahead of what will be one of its most competitive seasons in recent years, and it’s brilliant to have such a prestigious name in British Motorsport tied to us.”

The Championship media day is being held at Rockingham on the 25th March and both Freddie and the team will be in attendance along with getting in further testing at the circuit.

Any drivers interested in contacting the team to discuss driving Team BKR’s Clio at thruxton, Oulton Park and Croft should get in touch with Nico Ferrari on 01268 728292 or via email at info@bubbleandkick.com.
