Three sprint series’ combine for 2015

Organisers of the MLR Sprint Series for Mitsubishi Lancers, the 22B.com Sprint Series for Subaru Imprezas and the GTROC Sprint Series for Nissan GT-Rs are pleased to announce that all three will amalgamate in 2015 to create a new, multi-marque competition. Consequently, competitors will now be able to challenge for overall positions as well continue to battle for honours against their rivals in the same brand of car.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Register Sprint Series was launched in 2007. Then, as the reputation of the well-managed and well-supported events spread amongst other owners clubs, interest from a number of Subaru drivers increased and consequently, the 22B.com Series was introduced in 2010.

Similarly, as Nissan GT-Rs became more popular, series organisers were approached by owners who also wanted to take part in the sprints. At first it was just two or three, but as numbers increased, the GT-R Owners Club became involved and a Nissan GT-R series was created for the 2014 season.

The three manufacturer-orientated series’ will continue to run autonomously within the whole series. Each will feature a different title and associated sponsors and include a range of classes based on a car’s technical spec and overall level of modification/ tuning:

Class A: Fast Road – sponsor SuperPro
Class B: Track – sponsor AP Tuning
Class C: Super Track- sponsor Ross Sport
Class D: Unlimited – sponsor HKS Europe

Class S1: Fast Road – sponsored by AS PErformance
Class S2: Fast Road/Track – sponsored by Chevron Motorsport
Class S3: Unlimited – sponsored by Owen Developments

Litchfield GTROC Sprint Series:

Class N1: Unmodified turbos – sponsored by Akrapovic
Class N2: Modified turbos – sponsored by Turbo Dynamics

“We are very excited about the prospect of combining three separate series” for three makes of Japanese, four-wheel-drive, turbo changed cars”, said series founder and manager Darin Frow. “When we launched the MLR Sprint Series eight years ago, it was purely for Mitsubishis. We are very pleased that we can now offer a multi-marque competition that incorporates the three marques. It looks like we have an exciting season in store.”

For the Mitsubishis and Subarus, the 2015 calendar will feature seven rounds at seven different venues, with competitors counting their best six scores towards their end-of-season total. The Nissan’s will contest five of the events, omitting a visit to the Oulton Park rally course and the Teesside Autodrome sprint track. All rounds will benefit from television coverage broadcast on Motors TV.
