BTCC Croft Hamilton is welcomed into the fray…

The British Touring Car Championship arrived at Croft last weekend (27/28 June) and the Hamilton family flew into the circuit to support Nic Hamilton (Lewis Hamilton’s brother) who was making his debut in the BTCC series.

Its a tough grid out there and it was a baptism of fire with Nic, qualifying in 26th position on Saturday.  Despite a few knocks, Hamilton finished the first two races, overall Nic said “he was quite pleased and was looking forward to having another go”  His father Anthony flew in by helicopter to watch his son driving his AMD Tuned Audi.

North Yorkshire, known for its picturesque villages, Abbey ruins, moorlands and Oh, yes, the BTCC series at Croft. Set on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, Croft motor racing circuit was the home of the BTCC championships for 3 days over the weekend and yet despite a little rain Sunday morning and the A1 being shut it didn’t stop the crowds packing into the Dalton On Tees circuit.

An action packed meeting saw a grid of over 30 cars entered, including “Rookie” Nic Hamilton driving his first event in the BTCC in the AmDTuning.com Audi S3. The usual faces from the UK’s leading championship included Jason Plato, Adam Morgan, Sam Tordoff, Gordon Shedden, Colin Turkington, Matt Neal, Rob Collard, Andrew Jordan and WTCC ace Andy Priaulx who ventures back to grid this season.

When the lights went out Priaulx took the win in race 1, Tordoff race 2 and collard in race 3.

The support races included the Porsche Carera Cup which witnessed dominance by former Formula Ford Champion Dan Cammish, and plenty of hard battles in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, Ginetta Junior Championships, Renault UK Clio Cup and the MSA Formula series.

Full results from the meeting can be found here.
