Brookes Rules…BSB Brands GP Round 6

British Superbikes returned to Brands Hatch for the ‘big circuit’ at the weekend (17th/18th/19th July) for round 6 of the 2015 championship, as always it was non stop hard charging but this time out however, the Aussie flag was hoisted above the rostrum as Josh Brookes claimed top step for both races in the Kent sunshine.

After setting the fastest lap, taking pole but then crashing out of race 1, defending champion Shane Byrne did join the Milwaukee Yamaha rider on the podium for race 2 to maintain his championship lead. This was the first win of the season for Josh Brookes, his consistency so far this year putting him firmly in second place in the championship and only now at a 5 point disadvantage to the 4 time BSB Champion ‘Shakey’ Byrne who is proving once again this year he is the man to beat.

This is a tough championship and a handful of riders can take a win at any round but this weekend witnessed Anvil Hire TAG Racing Kawasaki’s Richard Cooper impressing in race one securing 2nd and then putting up an impressive defence in race 2 as James Ellison pushed him hard for the third step spot.

Next round is ‘flat out’ Thruxton (31st July – 2nd August)
