Harewood Hill Summer Championship meeting

It was a cool and cloudy start last Sunday morning (30th August) as ‘The Summer Championship’ hillclimb meeting got underway at Harewood Hill. It was a welcome return visit by the TVR Car Club Speed Championship who were back at the famous Yorkshire venue for the second time this season and drivers soon got into the swing of things as they pushed their Blackpool rockets hard using all the track where they could.

The weekend also found two and three wheels in the paddock as it was the first and only visit for bikes and sidecars this year and it was great to see ‘how its done’ straight out the trap, with no time to get tyres warm as the riders and passengers hunted out the grip.

The first practice run was about three-quarters of the way though, when unfortunately a medical emergency in the pit area called for the ambulance parked at Farmhouse to go up the hill, putting a temporary halt to proceedings for half an hour before first practice was re-started. Competitors got the chance for a second run late morning which was completed just before the lunch. When the action resumed, two official timed runs were carried out by drivers and riders over the afternoon, full times including practice and the final results can be found here.
