BARC & Britcar at Silverstone

A foggy start to Saturday (19th September) put a halt to the mornings proceedings with the MSA Endurance Cars being held in the pit lane for around 20 minutes waiting for the track to clear so qualifying could begin.

With only 11 cars entered into the championship, some of which where from the Britar Trophy which where due to race on the Sunday, were amalgamated into Saturdays Endurance race. You can only wonder at the state of sports car endurance racing in the UK at this level with all of this seasons MSA Endurance grids being small and I think an uncertain future for Britcar which is sad.

Qualifying on pole was the FF Corse Ferrari 458 Challenge car of David Mason & Calum Lockie with the Beachdean Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Paul Hollywood & Andrew Howard cooking up something on the second row in forth.

Race one kicked off with the FF Corse Ferrari 458 taking an early lead but failed to finish ending back in it’s garage and being classified 31 laps down on the race winner which on this occasion was the Moss Motorsport BMW M3 of Mike Moss . The Beachdean Aston Martin of Hollywood & Howard coming home 2nd.

Race Two was much of the same, only this time the FF Corse Ferrari 458 finishing in 1st place and again the GT4 Aston taking the second spot.

The other events that took place on the Saturday included the Mini 7’s & Migila Championship along with the Michelin Clio Cup and the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford Championships with very large grids and some superb racing.
