BRDC F4’s, FVee, Monoposto & Saloons at Brands Hatch

Brands welcomed drivers last weekend (14th & 15th November) as the UK’s circuit racing season draws to a close…

Drivers were treated with a mixture of conditions on the Saturday but it fortunately improved on the Sunday as teams and drivers went to work for the last time this season. Ben Barnicoat was crowned the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Autumn Champion, a fine win as he managed to secure the title from Harrison Scott who had entered the weekend with a 45 point advantage.

The single-seater action continued, in the Formula fords, Andy Charsley taking the top step in both races but rivals Ashley Dibden and Linton Stutely were in hot pursuit. In the Formula Vee Festival races James Harridge proved to have the consistency taking two wins out of the three races with Ian Jordan securing the other win and a third. The Monoposto battles were as close as always with freshly crowned 2015 Champion Robbie Watts taking two wins and second and Nigel Davers securing three 3rds at the Kent track.

Saloon car racing at the meeting included the Production BMW’s verses the Production VW’s as Munich took on Wolfsburg to see which who was faster. In qualifying it was a good start with a one two for the VW’s but a few DNF’s meant ultimately the E30’s prevailed winning both races. The biggest grid of the weekend could be seen in the annual Victor Meldrew Trophy where the gauntlet was thrown down in the battle of the tin tops – close? You betcha with three different drivers on the podium in both races. Results as follows…
