HSCC announce changes to 70s Road Sports

HSCC (Historic Sports Car Club) have announced that their successful 70’s Road Sports Championship will be amended for 2016.

The championship is all about cars from the 1970’s and to encourage greater grids for next season the club have added a new class division for cars with engine sizes from 1600cc to 1800cc which is likely to increase the numbers on the start line and of course especially MGB’s. In its production lifetime MG produced over 500,000 MGB’s and many have found their way into the race paddock over the years and remain a ‘cheap’ way to go historic racing as cars are available in road trim from £3k to £5k.

Also for 2016 HSCC have announced that there will be a single glass for cars up to 1600cc which will include cars that previously raced in the steel bodied and glass fibre bodied classes of the same engine size. The new HSCC revised class structure is as follows:

Over 3000cc
2001cc to 3000cc
Lotus 1600cc Twin-Cam (Elan, Europa and Seven)
1801cc to 2000cc
1601cc to 1800cc
Up to 1600cc
