MG Festival Brands Hatch

The MG Car Club took over Brands Hatch at the weekend for the annual MG Festival – the meeting showcased a wide range of championships and cars…

The spring weather remained dry and bright most of the weekend apart from a brief heavy rain shower towards the end of the afternoon on Saturday. Also at the meeting, the Porsche Club Championship was out on track, with various models including classic 968’s and air cooled 911’s competing against more Porsche machinery. Other championships at the Kent circuit over the race weekend included the Quaife Tin Top Championship and the BARC Motorsport News Saloon Car Championship both of which supplied plenty of entertainment.

But the weekend belonged to MG, and there were some great cars by the British marque to bee seen racing hard over the two days. The Finishline UK MGCC MG Trophy with it’s grid of 30 plus MG ZR’s gave the spectators some close and exciting racing and the MGCC Triple M race, a field of MG Midgets, Magna and Magnette’s, a slightly different pace but it was as equally as thrilling watching the drivers fighting with these old MG’s to get them into a bend, sounds and smells of a long gone age.

Other championships and Challenges out over the weekend were The Lackford Engineering MG Midget & Sprite Challenge, the Drayton Manor Park MG Metro Cup and the Peter Best Insurance MG Cup, with drivers battling it out in every class.

Overall, a fantastic weekend of Classic and Vintage MG’s. Roll on The MG Live Event at Silverstone on the 4 & 5 June.
