MCRCWA State Championships Round 1 Barbagallo Raceway 2016

Last weekend Barbagallo Raceway, just north of Perth, held a 2 day race meeting with MCRCWA (Motorcycle racing Club of Western Australia) the weather was warm and dry and as always the competition was fierce on track…

This weekend I wanted to try something a little different…no signing on as media for me on this occasion, I wanted to get the public’s view of the racing, walk the fences and the paddock trying to find a spot that got a shot that worked. To get the images I wanted I was going to have to work harder, obstacles in the way, fences to shoot through or just up sticks and move to another location; I am used to being track side and tend to head to my regular spots don’t want to get lazy!

The racing was very close yet again especially in the 250/300 production series, big grids meant big battles and in these classes drafting and race craft make it fun for the riders and good for the spectators. Walking the paddock many riders had clearly been spending time and hard earned cash on their machinery with a good standard of preparation to be found in all corners.

It is with great sadness that I report on the passing of racer Daniel Chadbund who was a huge part of the motorcycle racing community here and friend to many. I’d like send my condolences to the Chadbund and the Hammond family for their tragic loss. I didn’t know Daniel but when ever I did see him he was always smiling and helping others out… You will be missed by many Daniel rest in peace in motorcycle heaven…
