Blancpain GT Brands Hatch Meeting

It was a scorcher a full on summer day as Blancpain GT travelled to Kent and the Brands Hatch GP circuit last weekend, also joining them in the paddock were drivers from the MINI Challenge JCW’s and the GT Cup Championship…

Enzo Ide and Christopher Miles secured the main race win in the Kent sunshine in the Belgium Audi Club Team Audi R8 after an action filled first race under blue skies. The duo had to hold off the advancing  HTP Motorsport AMG Mercedes of Bernd Schneider and Jules Szymkowiak which were their main rivals throughout the race, the AMG having led from the start. If there was to be a hard charging award for the meeting then that would have to be given to the Bentley duo of Andy Soucek and Maxime Soule a tremendous drive from 24th to 3rd.

In the GT Cup, the 2nd round of their 2016 season,  Jordan Whit was the driver to beat in the GTO’s firing his Bentley GT3 around the Kent track taking top spot in all three races. Old is ‘gold’ as Richard Chamberlain proved in his Porsche 935, standing on the podium twice in 2 of the 3 races. John Dhillion and Aaron Scott also secured a third and a second and positioning themselves nicely in 2nd place on the GTO Championship table. Also enjoying a hat-trick of wins in GTA and GTB, drivers Dan O’Brien and Tom Webb sprayed the victory bubbles in the ‘summer’ sunshine. Next stop for the championship is Silverstone at the end of the month.

In the MINI Challenge JCW’s race one’s 12 lap charge was led by Jono Brown, who secured the fastest lap of the first race on lap 3 with an average of 142 kph, with Chris Smith and Nathan Harrison taking second and third. In race 3 there was jostling at the top as Charlie Butler-Henderson secured fastest lap of the race and ultimately the win with Nathan Harrison back on the podium this time in second and Rob Smith in third.

Full results from the support races can be found here.
