Brands Hatch…The spiritual Home Of BEMSEE…

‘The Spiritual Home of Bemsee’ is how the meetings was described by one announcer, so it was fitting that BMCRC should end it’s season where it all started way back in March…

Saturday was a day of cold, breezy and rather wet day with some heavy showers which at times caught out a few of the riders and the morning began with each championship having 15 minutes of qualifying. Riders pushed hard to ensure a good clear view from the starting grid and racing began soon after with each race on the Saturday being 11 laps in duration.

Sunday was a much better day, beginning bright and sunny, although remaining a tad chilly side as the falling few degrees in temperature signals the impending Autumn. Tyre warmers kept both tyres and gloves warm and as the day went on the sunshine faded and the clouds started to fill the sky…races stretched to 13 ‘lappers’ after the usual few sighting laps in the morning.

The paddock was bursting with a broad range of machinery and very full grids were the order of the weekend. Out on track the MRO 600’s, MRO Powerbikes, Kawasaki Juniors/ Seniors, Yamaha Pastmasters, Lansdowne Classics, MZ’s, BMCRC 600’s and 1000’s along with the MRO Minitwins which included Paddock42’s own, and former MRO Minitwin Champion, Grant Robertson who brought home the silverware with a 3rd place. Sidecar racing remains a firm favourite of mine, ace engineering, seriously fast and i have maximum respect the passengers with head, arms and legs hanging from all corners ‘riding the tea tray’ playing an utterly crucial role to the handling and performance of the bike.

The weekend was a good one, full of action and very close racing across all classes  – fierce competitiveness between the riders but all in a gamely, friendly manner. Respect to all, as mad as you all might be to race on two wheels, (race car photographer alert), I enjoyed the meeting immensely and I am looking forward to seeing you all in the Bemsee paddock in 2017.
