Hillclimbing: Harewood Open & May MSA British Championship

BARC Yorkshire Centre welcomed MSA British Hillclimb Championship competitors to Harewood over the weekend (6th/7th May) for the Harewood Open Hillclimb and May MSA Championship & the Ferrari Owners Club Hillclimb Championship…

After some fine early Spring days recently, the weekends weather proved to be cloudy and cold which kept the track temperatures down, however Saturdays meeting included regular drivers from the Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship, with a handful remaining in the paddock and taking on the competitors from the British Hillclimb Championship on the Sunday. On the Saturday, however, the order of the day was two practice runs followed by three timed runs for all but the British Hillclimb Championship competitors.

In the Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship Sarah Bosworth remains the championship leader after after two rounds with Deryck Jones in second and Jack Pearson chasing hard in third. John Chacksfield still leads the Harewood FTD Championship by two points from main rival Steve Owen, battling for third place, three drivers, Richard Spedding, Ed Cater and Ben Lovell are all in the mix.

The 5th and 6th rounds of the MSA British Hillclimb Championship took place on the Sunday, practice runs in the morning followed by a timed run to find the fastest twelve cars. These drivers then took part in round five of the MSA British Hillclimb Championship, with only the fastest 10 scoring championship points. After the lunch break drivers got a second chance to set a time that would enable them to compete in round six of the MSA British Hillclimb championship.

Many thanks to BARC Yorkshire Centre at Harewood Hill and not forgetting all the marshals and rescue teams.
