WRX Lydden Hill Solberg Rules

World Rally Cross returned to Lydden Hill at the weekend and what a great weekend it was – non stop action from the best RX drivers in the World…

Petter Soldberg was firmly ‘man of the match’ after taking the victory in the 5th round of the World RX Championship at the weekend. Solberg won all four heats, his semi final and the final infront of a 25,000 strong crowd.

Johan Kristoffersson, Solbergs VW team mate, placed 2nd and Hoonigan Racing Division’s Andreas Bakkerud secured 3rd spot on the podium in his Focus RS RX

WRC legend Sebastien Loeb in the Team Peugeot-Hansen Peugeot 208, EKS Audi’s Mattias Ekström and Timmy Hansen, Loeb’s Peugeot team mate finished the top six.

Unfortunately the weekends meeting at the ‘birth place’ of the British RX scene is to be the last World RX event that will be held at the circuit as the championship moves to Silverstone for 2018. (A massive shame we at Paddock42 think…Ed)

Solberg’s team mate Johan Kristoffersson, leads of the championship just ahead of Mattias Ekström as the championship heads to Norway for the next round.

Also competing last weekend were drivers from the FIA European Rallycross Championship, Lars-Oivind Enerberg managed the win, with Steve Volders 2nd and Kjetil Larsen 3rd.

Drivers and teams competing in the RX2 International Series also filled the paddock, and it was another win for Cyril Raymond with Dan Rooke taking 2nd and Norway’s Thomas Holmen in 3rd.

Many thanks to Lydden Hill.
