Fun Cup Championship Round 4 Snetterton 300

The Fun Cup Championship headed off to Snetterton over the weekend (09/06/2018) for round 4, on the 300 circuit where Zoe & Guy Wenham along with Ryan Burke drove Apollo Motorsport’s car 220 to it’s maiden victory and maintaining their points lead at top of the Fun Cup Championships points table.

Everyone’s fingers were crossed for a dry warm day because the last two years of this Snetterton meeting being cursed with heavy rain and storms…..and it was.

From the off in this 4 hour affair, jostling for position was chaotic. Dave Clark in the pole sitting Agua Caliente car taking the lead until the DespatchBay.com and PT Motorsport cars in the hands of Andy Bicknell and Ian Payne Joined the fight, going three abreast into Agostini’s with Payne taking the lead at the exit of Agostini.

Nigel Greensall in the CCS Media car moved into forth at the end of the first lap then taking third from Bicknell, who then stole the lead from Payne at Murrys on third lap when the PT Motorsport car died suddenly after crossing the line. What ever lead Greensall built up was lost when the safety car came out for the recovery of Payne.

Because of their win at Anglesey, the Sherardize UK car of Peter Belshaw and Marcus Clutton had to start from the back of the grid but soon found themselves in second place behind the CCS Media car after the 1st hour and would take the lead during the 2nd hour. But all was not well when the car retired with over heating issues during the third.

Apollo Motorsport emerged as race leaders, Zoe Wenhan handing the wheel to brother Guy for the last stint, finishing ahead of DispatchBay.com and Track Torque/2Rent Dominos who came home 2nd and 3rd.

Greensall finally brought the CCS Media Car home in 4th while Team Honeywell finish 5th with the 2017 Championship winning car  landed in 6th. Team Viking showed their pace but on track incidents left them down in 7th and GCI Racing 8th.

The Fun Cup travel to Zanvoort for round 5 of the championship with two three hour races on the 31st June and the 1st July. I wish everybody luck and a safe journey.
