FIA WEC – Toyota lead again in practice 3

Toyota #8 quickest, both SMP’s ahead of #8 Toyota, Rebellion #1 returns.

Toyota continued to lead the way in practice once again. #8 laid down a 1:37.667 on the cool circuit this morning. SMP racing ran 2nd and 3rd quickest, #17 was the quicker of the team but 2 seconds slower than the #8 Toyota.

#1 Rebellion returned to the circuit this morning to maximise it’s track time after missing FP2 due to Bruno Senna’s crash yesterday. Effectively a shakedown session for them this morning but still setting a time that was only 0.8 seconds slower than the sister car.
Yesterday showed great pace for the Bykolles #4 before its engine issues and leaving oil on the circuit. Oli Webb took the car to the circuit this morning, great to see the car running but was the slowest of the LMP1 cars on track.

LMP2 saw TDS racing on top once again with the #28 in the hands of Loic Duval with a 1:44.247. Jackie Chan DC Racing filled out the top three #37 the quicker with #38 0.7 seconds slower. Coming into qualifying we have 6 of the 7 LMP2 cars within 2 seconds of each other, qualifying is a fair fight for pole for tomorrows 6 hour affair.

GTE-Pro saw the Ford Chip Ganassi team run amok again. Both team cars topped the sheets once again #67 setting the quickest time, a 1:55.197 in the hands of Andy Priaulx. The #66 Ford was 0.6 slower with Stefan Mucke onboard. Aston Martin continue to improve with their new machine and this BOP break for this round after Le Mans, #95 was third quickest in the session proving the Aston has got pace just in time for their home race of the super season.

GTE-AM and Dempsey Proton Racing isn’t on top #77 was third quickest of the session with the MR racing Ferrari 488 GTE second quickest and the old boy Aston Martin chassis topping the sheets just in time for qualifying this afternoon.

Qualifying will get underway at 12pm today to set the grids for tomorrows 6 hours of silverstone.
