The Fun Cup Championship Brands Hatch Indy

The Fun Cup Championship headed off to Brands Hatch for the penultimate round of the championship at the weekend (08/09/2018), a 4 hour endurance race that was filled with drama, door handle, bumper to bumper action right through the field, and with 27 cars on the grid, things certainly got busy.

Starting from the first row Guy Wenham put the 220 car of Apollo Motorsport into the lead followed close behind by 169 Team lane Roofing and PT Motorsport in 2nd & 3rd. A collision on lap 8 saw the safety car neutralize the race when the Agau Caliente and Team Honeywell cars collided at Paddock Hill Bend which also collected the Sherardize U K car sending the Agau Caliente into a roll.  With only 7 laps on the board, the Agau Caliente car would retire as would the Sherardize car with engine troubles. The Team Honeywell car rejoined the race and would later be classified 16th with 224 laps under it’s belt. Wenham lead the way again at the green flag with Team Lane Roofing and PT Motorsprt hot on his tail.

Starting from the very back of the grid because of their win at Silverstone, Team Racelogic went on to take the win, completing 232 laps of the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit. Front runners for most of the race were JPR UVio who should have gone on to win the race but were handed a 1 lap time penalty for pitting outside the pit stop window and eventually finishing 8th. Team 7/Fun Bikes 2 finished 2nd, another well earned podium in as many races and 3rd went to Team Kennedy.

Team Racelogic

Championship contenders Track Torque 2Rent Domino’s finished in 6th, maintaining their points lead in the championship standings, and with Team Viking finishing 4th, they have it all to play for when they head to Donington for the final round.

If last weekend was anything to go by, the final round at Donington Park could be a thriller.
