Sun Sets On The 750MC Season At Snetterton..

Championship deciders settled at sunny Norfolk circuit..

The final standard 750 Motor Club meeting of 2018 took place on the Snetterton 200, which saw championship aplenty crowned.

Patrick Fletcher won a tight Clio 182 opener, which meant he won a third consecutive title. He fell to fourth on the opening lap of race one but setting the fastest lap, he caught and passed championship rival Jack Kingsbury. Kingsbury fell to fifth at the end – bringing Don De Graaff and Mark Balmer on the podium.

Kingsbury won a tame season finale, beating Ryan Polley and De Graaff. That was his third win compared to Fletcher’s seven. Balmer (3), Andrew Tibbs (2) and Polley (1) were also winners this year.

After finishing on the podium ten times prior to Snetterton, Martin West finally won a Locost race – and then made it two later in the day. David Winter scored a maiden podium, while Paul Clark scored a career best second but it was Mark Burton who was champion in his circuit racing season debut.

Chippy Wesemael dominated both RGB S1000 races but Billy Albone claimed the title, after having to borrow Dave Watson’s Spire. Albone’s rival Paul Smith failed to finish either race which saw Danny Andrew and Dan Larner making it a Mittell Cars 1-2-3 both times.

Graham Gant won twice in the Formula Vee Championship, Peter Belsey fought him to the flag in the second race. That brought Gant’s winning tally up to six but it was Craig Pollard that took the title – in a season that he finished every race and won four times.

Ed Pither returned to the 750 Formula Championship with a repaired PRS and won both times, making it eight this season. But it was Mark Glover that won the championship with just two victories. His hopes were almost shattered with an ignition switch failure in the opener.

Ben Myall beat Simon Boulter in the final standard Historic 750 Formula race of the season, while Mike Harvey just took third in a tight three-way battle for third. Boulter came out on top of the handicap race.
