BTRDA Clubman’s Rallycross Final Round at Croft

With most of the regulars from the BTRDA Rallycross Championship, the final round nine at Croft also attracted a number of locals including Dave Bellerby and Matilda Procter (Daughter of Kevin Procter) and international competitors from Norway, Poland and Ireland…

The overall BTRDA Championship was still to be decided, and it could not be any closer; Luke Constantine and Tony Lynch (both competing in different categories) are tied on 240 points.

Taking part in this event was a number of cars in the Clubman 4×4 category, which is similar to the Supercar category in the MSA British Rallycross Championship. Included in this was the Ford Fiesta Supercar of Irishman Ollie O’Donovan (car number 2) who was using the event for testing, prior to the MSA British Rallycross season finale, at the new for 2018, rallycross track at Sliverstone, on Sunday 4th November.

Another addition to the categories at Croft was a number of competitors from the Autocross Championship, competing in the 2wd Autocross category.

With temperatures hovering around freezing, just before first light it started snowing on and off until just after the practice session. Then during the heats the snow thankfully turned to rain showers before the sun eventually came out. With a cold Northerly wind drying parts of the Rallycross track out, so lap and heat times came down.

With approximately forty races during the day and all kinds of cars competing from the small British Leyland Mini to the likes of the turbo charged 4×4 Ford Fiesta Mk 7 of Ollie O’Donovan and Mike Manning.

Congratulations to the overall BTRDA championship winner, and all the different category and class winners below (Provisionally)…

Overall BTRDA champion Luke Constantine in his Suzuki Swift Junior (car number 107)

Clubman 4×4 Champion Nigel Burke (not Competing at Croft)
Production 4×4 Champion Dan Beattie, car no.113 – Subaru Impreza.
SuperModified Champion Tony Lynch, car number 114 – Ford Ka.
Production Champion Keith Kerrshaawe, car number 799 – Peugeot 160 GTi
Classic Champion Ryan Taylor, car number 125 – BMW E30.
Junior Champion Tom Constantine, car number 87 – Suzuki Swift.

Ollie O’Donovan won the final race of the day in the Clubman 4×4 category.

Results from the event can be found here.

Many thanks to the BTRDA, BARC, Croft Circuit, Darlington and District Motor Club and of course, not forgetting all the marshals and rescue teams without which the event could not take place.
