Darlington and District Motor Club at Croft

The Darlington and District Motor Club (DDMC) Spring Race meeting, took place over the weekend of the 18th and 19th May 2019 at Croft…

All photos are from Sunday’s races from the MG Cockshoot Cup Championship, 5 Club’s Mazda MX5, which is a one make series and competitors would have 3 races that afternoon, including a top 10 reverse grid as per BTCC in the third race. DDMC’s own Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship (NSSCC) and a first away visit from the Super Lap Scotland Championship (SLS), which normally takes place at Knockhill – this features some seriously powerful saloon cars from north of the border. Though it is not racing, but a very intense timed lap challenge and competitors compete during the afternoon to post the fastest overall time in each of the seven classes. All of the competitors would be using the full international 2.127 mile circuit which has recently been freshly resurfaced recently

Sundays action got underway at 12:10 with just over 20 minutes of warm-up practice under fine sunny conditions, with the racing starting just after lunch featuring eight races plus the Super Lap Scotland Super Sprint Championship and their timed runs – a timed run was held in-between each of the races, once the track had been cleared of any cars which had ventured off track during the previous race. Spectators enjoyed almost six hours the crowds had non stop action on the North Yorkshire track.

After a sunny start the weather did turn, during the second of the NSSCC races with a sharp and heavy downpour, which thankfully did not last too long. Though the sun never really came out with lots of dark clouds about for the rest of the afternoon the rain just about held off until the final race of the day and the third race for the Mazda MX5’s.

Results from the DDMC Spring Race meeting at Croft Circuit can be found here.

Many thanks to Darlington and District Motor Club, BARC, Croft Circuit and not forgetting all the marshals and rescue teams.
