American Speedfest 7 at Brands Hatch

American Speedfest was at Brands Hatch at the weekend (1st & 2nd June 2019) entertaining the crowds with NASCAR style racing with a European flavour.

NASCAR Whelan Euro Series Elite 1 (Race 1) Israeli Driver Alon Day won the first Elite 1 race of the weekend after starting 3rd on the grid at the start. The early stages of the race Day was behind the front row pair of Stienes Longin and Loris Hezemans. Hezamans suffered a performance problem which caused him to fall away leaving the way clear for Day to chase down the Chevrolet Comaro of long time race leader Longin, eventually putting the Chevrolet SS’s nose in front to take the chequered flag. 3rd went to Nicolo Rocca.

NASCAR Whelan Euro Series Elite 2 (Race 1) Lasse Soerensen took the first Elite 2 race on Saturday after starting from the very back of the grid, the Danish driver beating Scott Jeffs to the line by nearly 2 seconds. Jeffs would be handed a 30 second penalty that would send him plummet down the final standings.

NASCAR Whelan Euro Series Elite 1 (Race 2) Frederic Gabillon took the spoils in the second race of the weekend for the Elite 1 drivers keeping at bay the challenge from Stienes Longin to the finish line. Alon Day brought the Chevrolet SS home in 3rd and once again taking the ‘King Of Brands’ crown.

NASCAR Whelan Euro Series Elite 2 (Race 2) Lasse Soerensen’s weekend finished on a high, taking another win, again battling through the grid beating Andre Castro and Giorgio Maggi to the chequered flag who finished 2nd and 3rd.
