British GT arrives at it’s halfway point for 2019

How quick is this season going? the 2019 season is already at it’s midway point as it arrives at Donington Park for the first of 2 visits this season.

41 cars are scheduled for the grid at Donington Park. As they arrive Barwell Motorsport still leads the way in the points standings. Firstly Adam Balon and Phil Keen in the #72 machine are topping the tables with  Sam De Haan and Jonny Cocker in the #69 machine running in second. Optimum Motorsports #96 Aston Martin with Bradley Ellis and Oliver Wilkinson is up in third in the point for the season.

TF sport pairing of Mark Farmer and Nicki Thiim are holding out 4th in the points for GT3 after a hugely succesful drive for the Sunday at the Silverstone 500, pulling the car up to second place for the finish.

Mercedes are represented with Silverstone 500 winners RAM Racing, after their win at silverstone Callum Macleod and Ian Loggie are sitting pretty in 5th in the points and looking to continue this momentum into the second half of the season.

The other Mercedes from Team ABBA Racing ran into problems at Silverstone that saw the car retire. They return for this weekend at Donington Park missing their AMG hotshot as he’s busy over in Nurburgring for the 24 hours. Tom Onslow-Cole replaces Adam Christodoulou in the Team ABBA Racing car paired with Richard Neary.

Balfe Motorsport showed fantastic Pace in silverstone last time out, legitimately challenging for the lead on pace alone. The Mclaren 720S GT3 ran faultlessly all race until a problem with the door catch meant the door couldn’t say closed forcing the car into a penalty to take and dropping them down the finishing order and off the podium.

GT4 see’s a fantastic fight with 5 crews at the top covered by 7 points overall. HHC Motorsport top the tables with Dean Macdonald and Callum Pointon onboard their Mclaren. Two points back we have Set Priaulx and Scott Maxwell onboard the Multimatic Mustang  and just one more point back we have the Beechdean Pairing of Kelvin Fletcher and Martin Plowman in their Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

For the Halfway point of the season Donington Park is hosting this 2 hour race just like the final round of the season. A large grid and another true endurance race ahead these teams will be looking to continue the momentum into the second half of the season as the races become ever more crucial to clinching as many points as possible.

Practice starts at 9:40AM before the second session at 11:50AM both for one hour each.
