EnduroKA ’12 heures du Norfolk’ at Snetterton

The new Enduro KA championship had its second race of the season at Snetterton last weekend (15th & 16th June) with the 12 hour endurance race being one of the highlights of the Enduro KA season.

The weekend’s action took place on the Snetterton 200 circuit with qualifying getting underway for the MSVT Trackday Trophy, Z cars & MSVR All Comers taking place on Saturday morning. In the afternoon the racing got underway with the first of the two Z cars races. Edd Giddings took top honours with Jamie Jeffrey in 2nd and Chris Murphy in 3rd. In the second race Edd Giddings again finished 1st with Chris Murphy 2nd and Jamie Jeffrey 3rd.

The MSVT Trackday Trophy Class B was won by Craig Sampson & Kester Cook with Nick White taking the honours in Class C and Colin Tester taking the win in Class D. The first of the two MSVR All Comers races, was won by Jon Mcrae with Kasper Jenson taking second and Ian McDonald in third. Honours in the second race were again shared by the same three but with Jon Mcrae taking his second win of the weekend, Kasper Jenson in second and Ian McDonald in third.

Qualifying for the EnduroKa also got underway on Saturday Afternoon in overcast conditions with Donnington Park’s pole sitter IP Racing taking their 2nd pole of the season, Piston Heads in 2nd and Track-Club in 3rd.

Sunday’s 12 hour EnduroKA race got underway at 9am with Piston Heads taking the lead early on from IP Racing, but at the end of the first hour IP Racing had dropped down to 6th, with Kool Airunnings moving up to 2nd having started 4th and Burton Power Racing up to 3rd having started 6th.

In the early afternoon a heavy rain shower hit the track and sent the times tumbling. Following the rain the track started to gradually dry for the remainder of the afternoon and by the 6 hour mark Burton Power Racing held a 12 second lead over Kool Airunnings with PistonHeads a lap further back in third.

In the closing few hours of the race Kool Airunnings passed Burton Power Racing for the lead. The top 3 then closed up together and were separated by just under a minute with PistonHeads closing in on the leading two. Kool Airunnings then started to pull away from Burton Power Racing   leaving Piston Heads chasing them down, but the clock beat them to the overtake leaving them 4 seconds behind Burton Power Racing at the flag and Kool Airunnings winning by 12.2 seconds.

Many thanks to Tom Arron and Colin Mann at MSV for their help and support.
