P42’s Charlie Bean – Rallycross ‘rock ‘n’ roll’

Another productive weekend at Knockhill for Team P42’s Charlie Bean but there was plenty of excitement for the young rallycross driver.

Focussed, ready for the meeting and at a circuit he enjoys, Charlie Bean was going to be the man to beat at the legendary Scottish track. Three heats later, having won all three, he was sitting on pole for the final. After a good start Charlie was again at the front taking charge but a competitive Jake Taylor managed to squeeze through a gap to take the lead. Pushing hard to regain control of the race, Charlie made a mistake, sliding wide on the loose stuff which then fired his Suzuki Swift into the tyres, bouncing off put the car into a roll and onto its roof.

Charlie said “I was fine, we got the car back to the paddock to make it drivable but when I jumped in I realised the brakes were gone. I managed to get to the grid for the restart, got off the line slow and let the other three go pulling off to get the fourth place points. ”

Charlie comes away from the weekend second in the championship standings behind Drew Bellerby who has the lead by only two points.

So its off to the workshop for CJB Motosport to put the hours in and get the car ready for the next meeting at Pembrey on the 27th July.
