R.A.C Rally – DMACK Carlisle Stages This Weekend

Its round 5 this weekend of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship – the DMACK Carlisle Stages. the event is being held this Saturday 21 June and spectators will be able to see historic rally cars taking on the forest stages in Kershope and Newcastleton.

The pre 68 cars in the Walker Diecastings Category 1, will lead the start with various interesting cars including the Volvo Amazon of Graham Waite and Gill Cotton which will no doubt have the Mini Cooper of Ray Cunningham and Andrew Bushe in hot pursuit, along with Lotus Cortina’s, Alfa Romeos and Saabs all in the mix.

Capital Construction Category 2, will see plenty of Ford Escort mk1’s and in class C3, spectators will also be able to see an Opel Ascona take on these Fords and go into battle. The 1600cc cars from category 2 will include the Hillman Avenger of Barry Jordan/James Gratton-Smith.

Mk2 Ford Escort’s lead the charge and dominate in the Holton Homes Category K class as they do in the Rob Smith Rallying Category 3 but lining up to battle with the Escort Mk2s will be the mighty Talbot Sunbeam Lotus of Owen Murphy/James O’Brien. Great to see other models out there in the forrest’s including another Hillman Avenger driven by Keith Davison/Henry Richardson in class D2.

In the R.A.C. Category O (open two-wheel drive), the Opel Manta of brothers Simon and Alister Crook will be there as they too try to take on the Escorts.

The event also includes the DMACK Modern Carlisle Stages and competitors in this event will run directly behind contenders in the WWRS R.A.C. Rally Championship, and this includes the rapid Ford Fiesta R5 of David Bogie and Kevin Rae.
