Charlie Bean top of the table – Swift Rallycross

A challenging weekend for Team P42 Rallycross driver Charlie Bean at Pembrey, but in the end our man was back on top of the championship…

Pembrey is a favourite track for the young rallycross driver, and after a big roll at Knockhill last time out Charlie was fired up and keen to claw back vital lost points in a bid to reclaim the championship lead.

Charlie said “It’s been a rough weekend we had a big shunt in practice because of the dust which led to my suspension braking but we managed to repair the car in time for heat one”.

After a mad rush to get back out on the grid, Charlie went out and got too the front and won the first heat. In heat 2 Charlie was again in the lead but after some contact from a pursuing driver got pushed into second as he went over the line. Clearly on top of his game, Charlie went into heat three and dominated taking a win securing pole for the final.

“I got a good start in the final and just got my head down and managed to lead all race, but going into the last lap and turn 1, I broke an engine mount under braking, fortunately I still managed to take the win and I’m now back leading the championship”.

Round 5 goes to Lydden Hill on Bank holiday Monday 25th August.
