Ferrari Racing Days Silverstone

The big toys came out to play this weekend at Silverstone as the annual Ferrari Racing Days event arrived at the Northamptonshire circuit to paint it red…

A cloudy start on Saturday morning greeted the fans, Ferrari owners and drivers but the dry weather meant a great showing of cars for the Ferrari Tribute Parade, led by Ferrari test driver Marc Gene, where owners got out on track for a parade lap around the circuit. Centred at the ‘Wing’, the outer paddock was crammed with cars, with everything from 355’to F40’s, Enzo’s, 360’s, 430’s and Dinos including a battered but loved and daily driver. (see the Paddock42 FB page for the paddock gallery)

Racing was provided by the Pirelli Ferrari Open, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli (European championship; Pro and AM drivers), Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli – Coppa Shell (AM drivers) but also included the XX Programme where instructors took Ferrari clients out on track in the incredible FXX and 599XX’s.

The meeting also had F1 Clienti out on track…ever thought where all those works Ferrari F1 cars go once they are retired from team service? Well yes some get put in museums but others get bought by private individuals and these cars are then managed by Ferrari and offered with full team support. No putting it on a trailer and hauling it to Cadwell for a blat, there is a bit of a procedure involved for getting the thing started….
