Malton Forest Rally North Yorkshire

Rallying returned to the Forests of North Yorkshire for the Mellors Elliott Motorsport (MEM) sponsored Malton Forest Rally last weekend (Sunday 31st October) and conditions were excellent for the hard charging crews.

The event consisted of 6 stages accross Cropton, Staindale and Langdale Forests each of which was run twice with the Cropton and Staindale second runs being reversed which kept the crews on their toes. Central Service was in the Adderstone Field in the Dalby Forest complex and there was a fine array of machinery from historic mark 1 and mark 2 Escorts, Talbots and Vauxhalls to modern-day Fiesta RS’s and Subarus. Organised jointly by the Clitheroe and District Motor Club and Malton Motor Club, the ultimate winner was Charles Payne in his Ford Fiesta, just beating last year’s winner Stephen Petch in the WD40 and SG Petch backed Ford by just two seconds.
