Harewood Hill Classic & Vintage and Jim Thomson Trophy weekend

It was a busy two days last weekend (4th & 5th June) at Harewood as the famous hill hosted meetings over both days some truly fantastic machinery could be seen being driven and enjoyed…

On the Saturday the Classic and Vintage Hillclimb meeting took place, with post war cars including Riley’s and Austin 7’s. Perhaps due to lack of knowledge of the hill, many of competitors only visit once a year, the red flags were out on numerous occasions. This meant time was cut and ultimately only two practice and timed runs were possible, for the competitors. The weather forecast was for warm sunny conditions but it was unfortunately overcast for most of Saturday but it did stay dry so maximum grip could be enjoyed. Sunday was very different, the sun was out and with temperatures hitting 24 degrees, it made it the hottest day of the year so far. Good for the crowds but not so good for all the Marshals who were feeling the heat in their orange flame proof suits.

Results and times from Classic and Vintage event can be found here.

The Jim Thomson Trophy meeting took place on the Sunday, with competitors from Morgan cars, Scimitar & Sabre and Aston Martin Owners club’s, plus regulars from the Harewood Championship. With fewer red flags, two practice runs and three timed runs were possible over the course of the day.

Results and times for Jim Thomson Trophy can be found here.

Thanks to BARC Yorkshire Centre at Harewood Hill and not forgetting all the marshals and rescue teams, without which motorsport would just not be possible.
