ROCKINGHAM’S NEW TRACK DAY – Brag Attack

When it comes to going racing these days many people start by driving at track days…Naturally there is always a bit of rivalry and it is with this in mind that Rockingham have announced a new event,  the Brag Attack Shoot-out Competition which will take place this weekend on Saturday 2nd July.

There is always a bit of banter in the track day paddock and Brag Attack is being billed by the circuit as the event that gives those who reckon themselves ‘a bit of a tasty peddler’ the chance to show us how fast it and they go.  There is a twist however, unlike a sprint, Brag Attack is about consistency  – not about speed, consistency will determine the winner.

The day will start, following a briefing, with a timed practice session on Rockingham’s 1.94-mile International Circuit, drivers will review their timings and select a lap-time, which they must then match during two three-lap heats. Then for every tenth of a second under or over their selected original lap-time, the drivers will be penalised in the form of a point system – the less points a driver has the better.

The top 20 drivers (i.e. those with the lowest about of points) get the chance to compete on Sunday where they have to do it all again in a final as part of the Rockingham 100 race event, this time in front of crowds, and the winner will be crowned the 2016 Brag Attack champion.

Rockingham tell us that having the fastest car out there won’t help you, it can be in a MINI or a Ferrari it’s all about proving you have the ability to lap not only quickly but also consistently.

Brag Attack is open to anyone with a full road licence and entry is just £245 per car which includes all the timing equipment you’ll need to take part. if you really want to improve Rockingham’s ARDS instructors will be on hand to offer some friendly tips and even 20-minute one-to-one tuition sessions which can be booked in advance for additional cost of £30.
