Paddock42 Project Lotus Update

The Paddock42 Project Lotus story continues as we collected the car from Euromart Blasting ( www.euromartblasting.com ) yesterday. The car has been completely sand blasted and had all the underseal removed, this process has also removed any body filler and the shell has been painted in primer. This is a ‘warts and all’ process and gives us the chance to see what the shell is really like and any repairs that have happened over the last 50 years or so. Historically we have been told that this Mk1 Lotus has been raced and there are signs of old race injuries but overall she is in great shape with only a few minor repairs required.

Next stop is Andy Robinson ( www.robinson-race-cars.co.uk ) for a full FIA Cage. The process will include a seat fitting and the construction of the seat mounting frame to make sure we get the ultimate driving position and the roll cage positioning spot on. After that we are off to the paint shop for panel repair and paint inside and out then its back to the Paddock42 ‘shop’ for the build. Question is will the car be ready for the Brands Hatch Lotus Festival later this summer? The pressures on!
