AMERICAN SPEEDFEST V

The American SpeedFest returned to Brands Hatch at the weekend (10-11 June 2017), the fifth year of this ace event and fans of all things american racing had a ball…

Entertainment featured a Fast & Furious style drift demonstration, piloted by Zarene Dallas a genuine Fast & Furious movie stunt driver, Bernie’s V8 Championship thundered on track and classic US muscle cars, 1,000bph racing trucks surrounded the Kent circuit.

There has always been a pretty big American car scene here in the UK and for those who love American autos, clubs from all over the UK were there and putting on a thuge display of stunning cars; Pontiacs, Chevrolet, Dodge and Buick plus some simply stunning, beautiful built ‘rods and customs.

Qualifying action over the weekend was kicked off by the Speedfest Silhouettes the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Elite 1 & Elite 2 soon after. When the racing began it was the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series stealing the on track show, unbelievable power and noise, made extra special for NASCAR fans by the appearance of NASCAR hero Bobby Labonte. Labonte was one of the biggest names in NASCAR in the ’90s and ’00s and he was joined on the grid by Marc Goossens (Formula Ford Fest winner) and Christophe Bouchut (Le Mans 24 hour winner)
