Reigning Champion Aims to Retake Title in Wales – Ogier Pre-Wales Rally GB Test

Last week Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia took to the legendary forests of Wales for a Wales Rally GB pre-event test.

The crew are aiming to seal the 2017 World Rally Championship title at Dayinsure Wales Rally GB next week.

With the only remaining rally of the season after Wales being Australia, Ogier’s closest rivals, Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville and Ogier’s M-Sport teammate Ott Tanak, must have good results next week to still have a chance to take the title from the four time world champion down under.  Ogier’s current lead in the championship standings over Tanak and Neuville is 37 and 38 points respectively after Neuville’s non-finish last time out due to a broken suspension on the final leg in Spain.

To clinch his fifth straight title in Wales, Ogier must finish the rally with 30 points between him and his closest rivals in the championship standing.

M-Sport, led by Malcolm Wilson, are on the brink of their first manufacturer title in ten years – they need only four points from the rally to take it.

If you are planning to attend the rally, the online rally planner can be found here. This planner tells you all you need to know about the rally from information about each stage to an insight into the Deeside Rally Village. Also within the planner is a personal, short description of each stage from Wales’ very own WRC driver, Elfyn Evans.

The rally kicks off on Thursday 26th October at the Tir Prince Super Special Stage under floodlights before the drivers take on the iconic stages in the legendary forests of North and Mid Wales over the following three days, finishing with the power stage at Brenig reservoir on Sunday afternoon.

Many thanks to NWCC.
