Josh Hill retires from Racing…

Josh Hill son of 1996 world champion Damon and grandson of two-time world champion Graham, has retired from racing at the age of 22 with immediate effect.

Josh has been competing in the 2013 FIA Euroseries F3 Championship having started his career in karts and this season, after 15 races, was lying 10th in the Championship.  This shock retirement ends any hope of becoming the first ever 3rd generation F1 world champion.

Hill said “Coming from the Hill family it was inevitable that I would be drawn to racing. I have learned an enormous amount and really enjoyed the experience, but I do not want to compete unless I am 100 percent devoted. As I now have ambitions in other fields I feel it is the right move to withdraw from racing”.

“Damon Hill, the 1996 F1 World Champion, added that he fully supports his son’s decision. “Being born into a racing dynasty is not something many of us can easily relate to,” Damon said. “It is entirely understandable if Josh has to find out if racing is his main calling or not. So it is with some sadness that we make this announcement. I’m sure there will be many disappointed ‘Hill’ fans out there but we hope they will be understanding … It is sometimes braver to stop than to carry on. He has my total support as always.”

Away from the track, Josh’s main enthusiasm is music and he is an accomplished drummer, a keen cyclist and also a long-boarder so we are sure that he will find his true calling and wish him the very best of luck with whatever he does.
